Autism affects how a child communicates, plays, handles sensory input and manages change. Support works best when different therapists plan together. At our Hulimavu centre, speech-language therapists, occupational therapists and behavioural therapists agree shared goals for your child, so what happens in a session carries over to home and school. We begin with an assessment and a conversation about what matters most to your family, such as first words, calmer transitions, eating, toileting or readiness for school. Therapy is play-based, paced to your child, and includes parent coaching so progress continues between visits.

Evidence-based behavioural intervention for children with autism spectrum disorder, focusing on building communication, social, daily living, and academic skills while reducing behaviours that interfere with learning.
Psychology and Counselling
Support for children experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, social challenges, trauma, or adjustment difficulties. Our psychologists use child-friendly therapeutic approaches including play therapy and CBT.
Early Intervention
Intensive, structured therapy for children from birth to 6 years who show signs of developmental delay or neurodevelopmental conditions. Early Intervention produces the best long-term outcomes — the sooner therapy begins, the more effective it is.

Signs a child may benefit from an autism assessment
Every child is different, and only a qualified clinician can diagnose autism. You may want an assessment if your child:
Does not respond to their name, or rarely makes eye contact, by around 12 months.
Has no babbling, pointing or gestures by 12 to 18 months, or has lost words they once used.
Plays with objects in repeated ways, lines things up, or becomes very distressed by small changes in routine.
Reacts strongly to sounds, textures, lights or foods, or seeks intense movement.
Finds it hard to play with other children or to share attention with you.
