Speech Therapy
Carewhizz provides specialist Speech Therapy in Hulimavu for children and adults who face challenges with communication, language, speech sounds, fluency, and swallowing. Our licensed speech-language pathologists (SLPs) use evidence-based techniques to help every patient find their voice and communicate with confidence.

Understanding
A speech therapist (speech-language pathologist) assesses, diagnoses, and treats a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders across all age groups. At Carewhizz, our Speech Therapy team works primarily with children, helping them overcome barriers to language development, articulation, social communication, and academic success. For general guidance, see the ASHA guide to speech and language.
Sessions are structured, engaging, and tailored to each child's profile. We involve parents and caregivers closely, providing strategies and home activities that extend the impact of therapy beyond clinic sessions.
What we cover
Our Hulimavu Speech Therapy clinic supports children and adults with:
Difficulty producing speech sounds correctly (articulation disorders) or patterns of errors (phonological disorders) that make speech hard to understand. We use structured phonology and articulation therapy to build clarity.
Children who are late to start talking, have a limited vocabulary, or struggle to combine words into sentences. We target expressive and receptive language skills through play-based and structured therapy.
Helping autistic children develop functional communication — verbal, AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), or both — and improve social communication and pragmatic language skills.
Evidence-based fluency therapy for children and adults who stutter, including smooth speech techniques, confidence building, and strategies for managing stuttering in daily life.
Gradual, anxiety-sensitive approaches that help children who speak at home but not in school or social settings regain their voice in all environments.
Supporting children with oral-motor difficulties, sensory-based feeding problems, and swallowing disorders that affect nutrition and growth.

At Carewhizz Hulimavu, Speech Therapy is never one-size-fits-all. Our SLPs begin with a comprehensive evaluation to understand each child's strengths, challenges, and communication goals. We then design an individualised therapy plan using proven methods including:
A tactile-kinesthetic approach for children with motor speech disorders, providing physical cues to guide the movements needed for speech production.
For non-verbal or minimally verbal children, PECS builds a functional communication bridge while verbal skills are developed.
Group Therapy sessions that build pragmatic language, turn-taking, and peer interaction skills in a naturalistic setting.
Teaching parents and caregivers to embed language-facilitating strategies into daily routines, maximising progress between sessions.

If your child is not using words by around 18 months, is hard to understand for their age, or has stopped using words they had, an assessment is a good idea. No referral is needed.
Sessions are play-based. The therapist works on sounds, words, understanding and social communication through games and activities, and shows you how to practise at home.
It depends on your child's needs. After the assessment, the therapist suggests a plan and reviews progress with you regularly.
